THAMES VALLEY POLICE OFFICER FACES MISCONDUCT OVER ALLEGED SEXUAL ASSAULT

A Thames Valley Police student officer, Jake Wilson, aged 23, will face a misconduct hearing following allegations of sexual assault. The incident reportedly occurred in December 2023 in Milton Keynes, where Wilson was off duty. He is accused of approaching a 17-year-old girl working alone and smacking her on the bottom "with such force that he caused reddening to her skin." Wilson appeared at Milton Keynes Magistrates' Court on April 25, where he admitted to being responsible for the assault but claimed it was not sexual, categorizing it as common assault. The woman involved was unknown to Wilson, but CCTV footage and a media appeal led to his identification. Wilson contacted authorities via the officer in charge of the case on January 29 last year, confirming the identity, and was subsequently arrested on January 30. He was charged with one count of sexual assault on October 10, 2024. The police spokesperson stated the charge related to an allegation that Wilson sexually assaulted a girl in Milton Keynes while off duty in December of the previous year. The misconduct hearing will take place online on July 14, chaired by Thames Valley Police chief constable Jason Hogg, with allegations stating Wilson breached police professional behavior standards related to discreditable conduct. If proven, his conduct could amount to gross misconduct, possibly leading to dismissal. Wilson is currently suspended from police training pending the outcome of the hearing. The incident and subsequent proceedings highlight serious concerns regarding officer conduct and misconduct within the Thames Valley Police force.
