BERRYHILL MAN JAKE ANDERSON DODGES PRISON FOR BREACHING COURT ORDER AND HARASSMENT
Troubled Jake Anderson breached a court order within days of it being made. The 30-year-old was subjected to a non-molestation order at Stoke-on-Trent Family Court on October 28, which prohibited him from contacting his ex-partner or going to her home.
Despite the order, Anderson breached it in November and December by engaging in several behaviors including contacting her on social media, bombarding her with phone calls and texts, attending her home and banging on her door, making threats, loitering about, and attending her home repeatedly.
He has been sentenced to 18 months in prison, suspended for 18 months, at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.
Prosecutor Raj Punia highlighted his breaches, stating, "He breached the non-molestation order by making many telephone calls and sending texts." Anderson, of Tiverton Road, Berryhill, pleaded guilty to five charges of breaching the order.
He was arrested and interviewed on January 9.
The victim described feeling scared and frightened due to his actions but expressed hope that with help, Anderson could turn his life around, mentioning, "I honestly believe with the right help he could finally turn his life around." Mitigating, Jason Holt mentioned that the victim supports Anderson and emphasized that he acknowledges the breaches, which included contacting her via social media, threatening her, and loitering, but no violence was used.
Anderson must complete a Building Better Relationships program, a rehabilitation activity for 35 days, and obey a four-month curfew from 9 pm to 6 am.
Judge David Fletcher emphasized the seriousness of the breaches and the need for appropriate measures to address his behavior.
Anderson’s behavior was linked to his inability to manage stresses and the influence of substances, especially when taking drugs, which changed his behavior.
The judge noted the importance of seeking help and turning his behavior around.
