November 2020 Man spared jail after taking advantage of ‘vulnerable’ girl A man has been spared jail after admitting to sexual activity with a ‘vulnerable’ child in St Albans Crown Court last week. The offence took place in Hatfield, during the early hours of July 15, 2017, when Jak Wademan-Nash, from Welwyn Garden City, performed a sex act upon a 15-year-old girl. An investigating officer described the act as ‘truly terrible’ and said it has had a horrific impact on the victim. Last Thursday (November 19), Wademan-Nash, 21, was sentenced in St Albans Crown Court after admitting to sexual activity with a child. He was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment, suspended for two years, 10 years on the sex offenders’ register and 150 hours unpaid work. He must almost attend a 30-day rehabilitation programme and was given an indefinite restraining order preventing him from contacting the victim. The suspended sentence means Wademan-Nash will not go to jail unless he commits a further offence or breaches the requirements of his suspended sentence. Kay Leverton, Investigator, said: “Wademan-Nash’s actions that day were truly terrible. He took advantage of a vulnerable child and the consequences have had a horrific impact on the victim. “The investigation has been extremely long and complex, with many enquiries; I want to commend the victim for her bravery throughout and hope that the sentence can offer her a small sense of closure.”
