JAIMIE REEVES AND SHOCKING SEXUAL ASSAULT IN BERKSHIRE
A man named Jaimie Reeves subjected a woman to a terrifying and violent sexual assault, an incident that has left a lasting impact on the victim’s mental health. The assault took place in Dorset, but Reeves is a resident of Berkshire, specifically from Oxford Road in Sandhurst.
The disturbing events unfolded during an evening when the woman was at a house in Dorset.
The two individuals were sitting together in the lounge when Reeves moved closer to her and began to grope her without consent.
The situation escalated when they decided to step outside into the garden for a cigarette.
During this time, Reeves expressed his desire to have sex with her, further complicating the situation.
Upon returning inside, Reeves attempted to remove the woman’s shorts and underwear, aggressively telling her, "You're going to let me have it." The woman, clearly resisting and making multiple attempts to leave, refused his advances.
Despite her protests, Reeves launched into a brutal sexual attack, becoming increasingly rough and instructing her to remain silent.
The assault was prolonged, lasting over an hour, according to prosecutors.
The victim was only able to escape during the early hours of the morning when Reeves went into the bathroom to be sick.
She immediately returned home, confided in her mother, and subsequently reported the incident to the police.
In her victim statement, she described the ongoing impact of the assault, saying, "Each morning when I wake up, I have to remind myself that he won’t be able to hurt me anymore like he did that day.
I do believe this is something that will change my life forever." Jaimie Reeves, aged 27, appeared at Bournemouth Crown Court for sentencing on Tuesday, October 24.
The case was related to the incident that occurred in July 2020.
A jury found Reeves guilty of multiple charges, including attempted vaginal rape, attempted oral rape, assault by penetration, and sexual assault.
During the sentencing hearing, Reeves’ defense attorney, Nick Robinson, highlighted his client’s previously good character and lack of prior convictions.
Robinson argued that the offenses were spontaneous rather than premeditated and emphasized that they were not sustained or prolonged.
He also mentioned the emotional suffering of Reeves’ family and pleaded for the court to show mercy.
Addressing Reeves directly, Recorder Richard Onslow described the ordeal as a nightmare for the victim.
He stated, "What went on inside was nothing short of a nightmare for [the victim].
She kept telling you no and that she wasn’t interested.
You kept trying to rape her, despite her obvious resistance.
She felt extremely vulnerable." The judge acknowledged the severe and lasting effects on the victim, including crippling anxiety, fear of walking in the street, panic attacks, and ongoing mental health struggles.
As a result, Reeves was sentenced to nine years in prison.
Additionally, he was issued an indefinite restraining order and placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life, reflecting the gravity of his crimes and the need for ongoing supervision and protection.
