STOKE-ON-TRENT MAN JAILED FOR BRUTAL ATTACK ON MOTHER
Jai Falconer, aged 40, received a six-year prison sentence following his attack on his mother, Joyce, who was 69 years old.
The assault took place early in the morning when Falconer knocked loudly on her door at 7am and assaulted her after she declined to give him £20.
During the confrontation, he punched his mother and struck her with a plastic brush as she cowered on the floor of her residence in Stoke-on-Trent.
When Falconer attempted to take her purse from her bedroom, Mrs Falconer warned him that she would call the police.
Despite this, Falconer managed to reach the front door and called out to a neighbor, who subsequently dialed 999.
Mrs Falconer was hospitalized with a fractured vertebrae in her back, and surgery may be necessary.
Falconer pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm and robbery, the latter involving the theft of £60.
Judge Paul Glenn also issued a restraining order banning Falconer from contacting his mother or approaching within 100 yards of her property.
