NOTTINGHAMSHIRE RAILWAY SEX OFFENDER JAILED FOR ASSAULTS
This grinning criminal, who sexually assaulted two young girls in Nottinghamshire, has been jailed for a year.Jahziah Thompson carried out his first sex attack on a 15-year-old girl who was trying to move away from him on a train between Mansfield and Worksop.
Three months later, the then 24-year-old, grabbed and sexually assaulted a 17-year-old victim in a shelter at Mansfield railway station.
Investigating officer DC Kristene Lawrence stated: "These were truly terrifying assaults, and both girls still struggle with what happened to them.
Both remain deeply traumatised by Thompson's lewd and despicable assaults.
Thanks to their bravery Thompson is now behind bars." Nottingham Magistrates’ Court heard how Thompson approached the first girl, who was 15 at the time, on a train from Mansfield to Worksop on February 23 of the previous year.
He moved seats to sit opposite her and began engaging her in conversation, asking her to follow him on social media.
When she told Thompson her age, he continued by making comments about her appearance.
When she tried to move seats, Thompson stopped her and sexually assaulted her.
He then followed her to the car park where she was being picked up and even attempted to continue talking to her once she was in the car.
On Monday, May 22, Thompson approached a 17-year-old girl on her way to Mansfield station.
He started by asking if she had any change and then joined her in the platform shelter.
He asked sexual questions, requested her phone number, then grabbed her and sexually assaulted her.
The girl managed to escape when another person entered, and she boarded a train.
Thompson, of Campo Lane, Sheffield, was sentenced to 12 months in jail on January 19 after admitting to two counts of sexual assault by touching.
Moreover, he was issued a seven-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order which forbids him from entering railway stations unless for travel, approaching or communicating with females under 18, sitting next to or opposite lone females on public transport or stations, moving seats if a lone female sits next to him, remaining in train carriages with only a lone female, using the internet or social media to contact females under 18, or undertaking roles that could involve unsupervised contact with minors.
