JAGO LEE, FORMER RAF SERVICEMAN AND PARAMEDIC, CAUGHT WITH NEARLY 10,000 CHILD ABUSE IMAGES IN GWENT
Jago Lee, 38, who was previously known as Lee Lewitt, has a dark history involving child abuse images.In July 2022, he was identified by Gwent Police after failing to disclose that he was spending the night at his partner’s address.
Lee was convicted of making indecent images of children and possessing extreme pornography, leading to a mandated 10-year registration as a sex offender.
He received an 18-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, at Truro Crown Court in March 2021.
Lee, a former RAF serviceman who worked as a paramedic, had moved from Cornwall to the Gwent area.
Despite his criminal record, Lee was discovered to have nearly 10,000 child abuse images, including some depicting infants as young as 12 months being raped and scenes of humans having sex with animals.
These images were stored on cloud devices and accumulated between November 2018 and May 2020.
Prosecutor Michael Brown detailed how police accessed Lewitt’s devices during a search of his home, which uncovered numerous indecent images both in still and moving formats.
An iPhone examination revealed a vast collection, with specific counts showing 2,721 Category A images, 1,456 Category B, 3,529 Category C, and 10 images of extreme pornography involving animals.
Initially, Lewitt claimed he was addicted to adult pornography and that he had accessed these indecent images by mistake.
However, during a second interview, he fully admitted to possessing the material.
Representing Lewitt, solicitor Chris Spencer highlighted that Lewitt is a paramedic and a former member of the RAF with three tours in Iraq.
His experiences have reportedly contributed to his receiving treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and Spencer noted Lewitt’s acceptance that his career is now over.
Judge Simon Carr addressed Lewitt’s actions, emphasizing the gravity of possessing such a vast number of child abuse images.
He stated, “I appreciate you are an intelligent man so you should be able to appreciate the enormity of what you've done.
Let me spell it out for you.
Every day tens of thousands of children are raped for the enjoyment of people like you.
The people raping the children don’t do it because of a sexual interest, they do it because it’s a business.
Many hold people like you just as responsible, I certainly do.” The judge noted Lewitt’s good character, remorse, and efforts to seek treatment as factors that warranted the suspension of what would otherwise be an immediate prison sentence.
Consequently, Lewitt was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment, suspended for two years, and was also ordered to complete a treatment program, undertake 100 hours of unpaid work, and comply with a sexual harm prevention order.
