JADE BERRY'S SHOCKING CRIME IN CHESHIRE: ELLSERE PORT INCIDENT LEAVES TEENAGE VICTIM TRAUMATIZED

Jade Berry, aged 27, was seen wandering through Rivacre Valley Country Park in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, at approximately 9 pm when she unexpectedly approached a young boy who was sitting alone on a woodland bench.

The boy, who was discussing his upcoming 14th birthday with a friend, was caught off guard by Berry's sudden presence.

Without warning, Berry sat down between the two boys and began to engage in inappropriate physical contact, specifically stroking the 13-year-old's genitals over his clothing.

During this disturbing encounter, she made explicit sexual remarks, including telling the boy she would 'ride you till morning.' The young victim, visibly shocked and distressed, tried to distance himself from her, but Berry's behavior escalated.

As the boys prepared to leave the scene, Berry pulled down her trousers, exposing herself in a state of intoxication, before passing out in a drunken stupor.

The two boys, alarmed by her actions, discreetly recorded videos of her before quickly leaving the area.

In the aftermath, Berry left behind her bank card and mobile phone on the bench, which later led to her identification.

When questioned by police, Berry claimed, 'Oh My God, I do not recall anything,' suggesting a lack of memory regarding the incident.

Despite her denial, she was later identified by the young victim during an identity parade.

The 13-year-old, who has ADHD, revealed that the traumatic experience had a profound impact on him, leading him to attempt taking his own life.

He described feeling overwhelmed by fear and anxiety, and he now struggles with nightmares and night terrors related to the incident.

Berry, who resides in the village of Little Sutton near Ellesmere Port, was arrested on October 5 following the incident that occurred on October 3 of the previous year.

The police found her bank card and phone at the scene, which facilitated her identification.

During her police interview, she refused to answer questions directly, replying with 'No comment' to all inquiries.

An identity parade was arranged, and the young victim successfully identified Berry as the woman involved in the assault.

Prosecutor James Coutts detailed the severity of the offense, emphasizing the vulnerability of the young victim.

He explained that the victim was seated on a bench in the woodland when Berry approached him, clearly intoxicated and unknown to him.

She sat between the boys and began to touch and rub his genitals and upper thigh over his clothing while making highly inappropriate and sexualized comments.

Her statement that she intended to 'ride him till morning' was particularly disturbing.

It was evident to the boys that Berry was aware of the boy's age, as they had been discussing his upcoming birthday.

The boys quickly left the scene, leaving her on the bench.

She then removed her clothing, exposing her genitals and buttocks, before passing out.

The boys recorded a video of her in this state.

Following the incident, the victim confided in his mother, who contacted the police.

Officers responded to the scene and recovered her bank card and phone.

Berry had already left by the time authorities arrived but was arrested two days later.

Her response to her arrest was a disbelieving, 'Oh My God, I do not recall anything.' During the police interview, Berry refused to answer questions, maintaining silence with 'No comment.' An identity parade was conducted, and the victim positively identified her as the perpetrator.

The emotional and psychological toll on the young boy was profound; he described feeling depressed, experiencing night terrors, and feeling unsafe in his environment.

He has undergone counseling but has lost much of his previous confidence.

It was noted that Berry had a prior conviction for drink driving from 2021.

Her defense lawyer, John Wyn Williams, highlighted her ongoing mental health struggles, which began in her mid-teens and worsened during the COVID-19 pandemic.

He described her as having a self-destructive nature, turning to alcohol to cope with her issues, and cited her separation from her parents as a contributing factor.

Williams explained that her memory of the incident was limited and that she did not intend harm.

Her psychiatrist diagnosed her with anxiety disorder, panic attacks, and borderline personality disorder, which contributed to her alcohol abuse.

Judge Eric Lamb addressed the court, acknowledging the seriousness of the offense but also recognizing Berry's remorse and mental health difficulties.

He stated, 'As it was a chance meeting, you were not aware of the vulnerability of your victim but the consequences of what you did have been awful for the complainant and his family.' The judge emphasized the victim's attempts to recover from the trauma, including his suicide attempt and ongoing mental health struggles.

Berry was sentenced to 12 months in prison, suspended for 18 months, and ordered to wear an electronic 'sobriety' tag for 120 days as part of an alcohol abstinence monitoring program.

She was also required to complete 35 days of rehabilitation activities and to sign the Sex Offenders' Register for ten years.

The judge noted her genuine remorse but stressed the importance of accountability for such a serious offense, especially given the vulnerability of the young victim and the impact on his life.
