CONVICTED (2024) | puppy farmer Jacqueline Storey, born 30 March 1971, of Low Dubwath, Kirklinton, Carlisle CA6 6EF – kept animals in cramped and dirty conditions. Jackie Storey with husband Brian Storey, who despite being involved in the family puppy farm, was not prosecuted. Storey, a commercial breeder of cockapoos, Golden Retrievers and Labradors, pleaded guilty to a breach of licence conditions. Cumberland Council’s environmental health team became aware of the poor environment at Storey’s breeding kennels following an anonymous call. A subsequent inspection by a Cumberland Council environmental health office revealed that Storey was keeping many more dogs and puppies on the premises than her license allowed for. A lack of staffing and poor facilities meant that the dogs’ needs were not being met. Cumberland Council, which brought the prosecution, said Storey, who trades under the name Cumbria Cockapoos, has been reported to the RSPCA and would receive unannounced follow-up visits. However, Storey took to Facebook on 1 September 2024 to announce that she and husband Brian Storey would no longer be breeding dogs, citing the reason as a family bereavement. Sentencing | fined £200, ordered to pay a £80 surcharge and £300 costs. Cumbria Crack Cumberland Council
