RICH KIDS OF INSTAGRAM STAR JAILED FOR HANDBAG SCAM
A man who described himself as Cheshire's very own Kardashian and tricked victims out of thousands of pounds for designer handbags has been jailed.Jack Watkin, 26, formerly of Wilmslow Road, Alderley Edge funded his influencer lifestyle by defrauding individuals and businesses to a total of over £200,000.
He appeared in Channel 4's Rich Kids Of Instagram series and was sentenced to six years at Chester Crown Court after pleading guilty to fraud, theft, and possession of indecent images.
Watkin used the Hermes handbag brand as a ruse to deceive people into investing money, promising higher resale profits.
Victims believed he had contacts for lucrative resale but received neither handbags nor returns, with some money spent on his luxury lifestyle.
The investigation uncovered a series of victims, luxury goods, and hotel bills.
Police found indecent images on his phones, leading to previous convictions for possessing such images.
On his first arrest in March 2024, his device held 637 indecent images, including 274 of children, and additional prohibited content.
On a second arrest in October 2024, his newer device contained further indecent images.
Detective Gareth Yates commented on Watkin's deception and depraved habits, highlighting the impact on victims.
Watkin faces a 10-year registration as a sex offender and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for his crimes.
