TEENAGER JAILED FOR BRUTAL RAPE AND ASSAULT IN CUMBRIA
A woman in her 50s was walking her dog in grassland in Workington, Cumbria, when Jack Walker, an 18-year-old, approached her and said hello.Moments later, he violently grabbed her hair, assaulted her by punching her multiple times, and forcibly raped her.
Throughout the attack, Walker threatened to stab her to death if she did not comply.
The victim fought back and, in a desperate attempt to persuade him to stop, smeared her own blood onto Walker's clothing, an act that proved crucial in linking him to the crime through forensic evidence.
Walker initially denied the charges but later pleaded guilty to rape, attempted rape, sexual assault, and grievous bodily harm.
He also admitted to a common assault on a police officer involved in the case.
The court sentenced him to 11 years in prison, with a recommendation that he serve at least two-thirds of his sentence before being considered for parole.
The judge described his actions as a savage and brutal attack and emphasized that Walker posed a ongoing risk to women.
Officer Isla Chilton from the North West Rape and Serious Sexual Offences Unit stated that Walker's actions were heinous and that the victim's bravery was commendable, and the sentencing was intended to offer some closure and remove a dangerous individual from the streets.
