East Cowes Domestic Abuser
An Isle of Wight man named Jack Taylor, residing in Captains Parade, East Cowes, was convicted of assault and threatening behavior. During an incident outside Ephesus Pizza and Grill on Newport High Street, he verbally threatened his girlfriend, saying he would 'cut her like kebab meat,' and got into a violent altercation. Liz Miller, the prosecutor, explained that Taylor argued with his girlfriend and threatened to punch her, which he then did by grabbing her, hitting her head, and continuing to punch her. A staff member attempting to intervene was subjected to abusive and homophobic slurs, further escalating the situation. Taylor told staff, 'I’m going to cut you up like kebab meat,' and later threatened to 'slash' them before leaving the scene. Taylor did not attend his trial but was found guilty of assault by beating and using threatening and abusive words to cause alarm or distress. Magistrates sentenced him to an 18-month community order, including a 12-month drug rehabilitation requirement and a 12-month restraining order. He is also required to complete 180 hours of unpaid work and pay costs of £650 along with a £114 surcharge.
