JACK SHARP CAUGHT WITH HORRIFIC CHILD ABUSE VIDEOS IN RUTLAND
In September 2023, authorities uncovered a disturbing case involving Jack Sharp, a resident of Rutland, who was found to possess a large collection of illegal and deeply disturbing videos depicting the sexual abuse of young girls. The investigation was initiated after police raided Sharp's residence, which was located in Blackwood, and discovered more than 100 videos and images stored on his iPhone.Among the material seized, there were 42 images classified as Category A, indicating the most severe form of illegal content, along with 36 images categorized as Category B and 30 as Category C. These classifications reflect the increasing levels of severity and explicitness of the material, with Category A representing the most heinous offenses involving very young children.
During the court proceedings at Cardiff Crown Court, the prosecutor, Alexander Orndal, relayed Sharp's own words to the police, stating, “The defendant told police officers, ‘They are all mine. All I can say is that I’m sorry.’” This statement underscores the defendant’s acknowledgment of his possession of the illicit material, which he admitted to owning and viewing.
Sharp, who was previously residing on Penywerlod Road in Markham and later moved to Bayleys Close, Empingham, Oakham, in Rutland, pleaded guilty to multiple charges. Specifically, he admitted to three counts of making an indecent image of a child, as well as three counts of possessing such images. His guilty pleas reflect a recognition of the serious nature of his actions and the evidence presented against him.
Judge David Wynn Morgan addressed Sharp directly during sentencing, emphasizing the gravity of his offenses. He stated, “This particular activity, which you’ve been indulging in for some time, is not just inappropriate, it is completely illegal.” The judge warned Sharp that if he were to reoffend, he would face immediate imprisonment. He further explained that the court’s primary concern is the safety of the public, and that measures must be taken to prevent any future offenses.
In his remarks, Judge Morgan highlighted the importance of rehabilitation over incarceration alone. He expressed concern that if Sharp were sent to prison, he would emerge as an untreated sex offender, posing the same risk to the community as before. As a result, Sharp was sentenced to a two-year community order, which includes a requirement to complete a 25-day rehabilitation activity program and participate in the iHorizon sex offender program.
Additionally, Sharp was fined £1,000 and ordered to pay £420 in court costs. To further protect the community, he was placed under a five-year sexual harm prevention order, restricting his activities and monitoring his behavior to prevent any future offenses. This case underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement and the judiciary to combat child exploitation and protect vulnerable victims from harm.
