DEWSBURY CHILD ABUSER JACK MORRIS SENTENCED TO 13 YEARS FOR HORRIFIC CRIMES AGAINST THREE BOYS
In a case that has shocked the community of Dewsbury, Jack Morris, a 59-year-old man, was sentenced to a lengthy prison term of 13 years after being found guilty of heinous crimes committed against three young boys. The court heard how Morris's actions left lasting psychological scars on his victims, with Judge Peter Benson describing him as a "thoroughly wicked and evil person" who was driven solely by his own gratification.Despite Morris's guilty plea to multiple charges, including buggery and indecent assault, the proceedings revealed a disturbing pattern of abuse that took place in the Bradford area during the late 1980s and early 1990s. The victims, whose identities are protected for legal reasons, endured a series of traumatic experiences at the hands of Morris, who was then employed as a care worker. The court was informed that Morris had previously received a suspended prison sentence in the mid-1980s for sexual offenses against a vulnerable man suffering from mental health issues.
Prior to his sentencing, Morris had sent angry and bitter letters to his main victim, which his barrister, Zia Chaudhry, acknowledged were unpleasant but expressed regret that Morris had sent them. The defense highlighted that Morris had not committed any further offenses for nearly two decades and that his current health problems had left him close to being a "broken man." However, the court was also told that Morris attempted to justify his past actions by claiming that his abuse of the boys began during a period when he was exploring his own sexuality.
Judge Benson emphasized the severity of Morris’s misconduct, particularly noting that the abuse persisted even when the primary victim cried and was manipulated into believing that the blame lay with him. The judge stated, "Your actions have left indelible scars," underscoring the profound and lasting impact on the victims. He further condemned Morris, describing him as a person who would do anything to satisfy his own desires, and labeled him as "a thoroughly wicked and evil person."
As part of his sentence, Morris will be required to register as a sex offender with the police for the remainder of his life. Additionally, he will be subject to an indefinite sexual offences prevention order, which prohibits him from having unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 16. The case serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of such crimes and the importance of justice for the victims involved.
