ELLESMERE PORT MAN JAILED FOR 'BRUTAL' KNIFE MURDER OF STEP-GRANDMOTHER
A 21-year-old man known as Jack Huxley, who has no fixed address, was convicted of murdering his step-grandmother, Janis Dundas, in a violent and prolonged knife attack at her home located on Atherton Road, Ellesmere Port. The victim, a 62-year-old woman, was found dead after suffering 28 stab wounds and lacerations.
The court was told that Huxley committed the assault in a "brutal, sustained, and sexually-motivated" manner after viewing hardcore pornography that showed an interest in sexual relations between young men and mature women.
He used four different knives along with a carving fork to carry out the killing and continued to harm her post-mortem.
Huxley pleaded guilty to her murder, prompting the judge to sentence him to life in prison, with a minimum term of 21 years and eight months.
Judge Clement Goldstone commented that the murder was among the most depraved and brutal he had seen, while Detective Inspector Peter Case from Cheshire Police stated that Huxley demonstrated no remorse and that the level of violence was shocking.
The victim’s family described Mrs Dundas as a "bright and perceptive woman," adding that her loss has left a deep emptiness in their lives.
They also said that "the sentence reflects how serious this crime was and offers us some degree of reassurance." Gary Simpson, the senior Crown Prosecutor, characterized the case as involving a "well-meaning woman who was savagely killed for her kindness."
