WILDLIFE PERSECUTORS JACK GINGELL AND ROSS KLUTH CONVICTED IN SURREY
CONVICTED (2025) | Jack David James Gingell aka Jack Stewart, born c.
2005, of Worple Road, Staines TW18 1ED, and Ross Kluth, born c.
2004, also of Staines (address tbc) – used a slingshot to fatally injure a pigeon then kicked and stamped on the bird as it lay on the ground dying.
The incident, which happened on Staines High Street in July 2023, was reported to police officers by members of the public.
The bird had been hit with a slingshot pellet, and died from its injuries.
Gingell and Kluth were identified and later charged for the harming and killing of a wild bird under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.
PC Town-Jones said: “Targeting wild birds for fun is animal cruelty and won’t be tolerated.
As we have seen in this case, action can be taken against those who commit wildlife crime, and we encourage the public to keep reporting any instances.” Sentencing included a fine and court costs, along with 120 hours of mandatory unpaid work within the next 12 months.
