JACK BARTLETT CAUGHT IN GRIMSBY ONLINE PREDATION SCHEME TARGETING 13-YEAR-OLD GIRL
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Grimsby, Lincolnshire, Jack Bartlett, aged 20, was found guilty of attempting to seduce a girl he believed to be only 13 years old through online messaging platforms. The incident unfolded in January 2018, when vigilante groups operating under the banner of Paedophile Hunters, specifically the organization known as One Reason, uncovered the sinister communications and alerted law enforcement authorities.
According to court proceedings, Bartlett engaged in a series of highly inappropriate and sexually explicit exchanges with what he believed was a teenage girl.
The messages revealed his disturbing intentions, with Bartlett referring to the girl as “sexy” and explicitly stating, “I want to get you pregnant.” He also sent her a message that read, “When we meet, trust your life with me,” indicating a clear desire to meet in person for sexual activity.
The court was informed that the girl he was communicating with was, in fact, an adult volunteer posing as a 13-year-old girl.
The volunteer group’s intervention was crucial in preventing potential harm, as they monitored the conversation and provided evidence to the police.
Prosecutor Craig Lowe explained that Bartlett’s messages were “crudely sexualised,” and included him requesting intimate photographs of the girl, whom he called “cute” and “hot.” During the chat, Bartlett asked the fictitious girl if she was truly 13, complimented her appearance, and expressed his desire to meet her for sex.
He wrote, “When we meet up, we can have sex,” and further added, “I’ll wear a condom.
I really like you and I want to teach you things.” His messages also included statements such as, “I am your first true love and I’ll love you, baby girl.
I want to get you pregnant,” which underscored his predatory mindset.
Throughout the investigation, Bartlett’s conduct was deemed to be a clear attempt to incite a minor into sexual activity, despite the fact that the girl was an adult posing as a minor.
The court heard that Bartlett’s actions demonstrated a blatant disregard for the age of the individual he believed he was communicating with.
In addition to his conviction, Bartlett was subjected to a five-year sexual harm prevention order and is required to register as a sex offender for the next five years.
The court’s judgment included a sentence of a three-year community order and 50 days of rehabilitation, reflecting the seriousness of his offending behavior and the need for ongoing monitoring and intervention to prevent future offenses.
