MAN JAILED FOR 'TERRIFYING' ABUSE OF PARTNER
A man who assaulted his partner by biting, strangling, punching, and inflicting a "terrifying episode of violence and torture" has been sentenced to three years and two months in prison.Jack Allinson, aged 30, from Oak Grove in Northallerton, pleaded guilty to one count of controlling and coercive behavior along with a charge of intentional strangulation that caused the victim to lose consciousness.
During the hearing at Teesside Crown Court, it was explained that these incidents occurred between 2023 and 2025 while the couple cohabited.
Judge Joanne Kidd described his behavior and attacks as a form of psychological "torture," characterizing them as "sustained, terrifying, potentially life-threatening assaults." Prosecutor Michele Stuart-Lofthouse recounted multiple incidents, including Allinson grabbing the victim by the throat, shoving her against a wall resulting in a facial scar, strangling her, biting her ear, damaging household objects, pouring petrol with threats to set the house on fire, squeezing her neck until she fainted, headbutting her, and hitting her head.
The victim, a mother of three, contacted the police in late 2025, leading to Allinson's arrest in December.
She described feeling "constantly living in fear," worried for her safety, and suffering from nightmares, emotional trauma, PTSD, anxiety, and depression.
Allinson had a criminal history comprising 15 offenses, including instances of assault and criminal damage, with a troubling pattern of abusing women.
His lawyer, Rhiannydd Clement, argued that his behavior was influenced by a difficult upbringing and heavy alcohol consumption.
Ultimately, Judge Kidd sentenced him to three years and two months in custody, along with a seven-year restraining order, with the understanding that he will serve half of his sentence before being eligible for release on license.
