THETFORD MAN CAUGHT WITH ALMOST 135,000 CHILD SEX IMAGES
A man found to have almost 135,000 indecent images of children has been told he could be jailed.
The huge haul of images and videos was discovered after police were tipped off about online child sex material linked to an IP address linked to a property in Thetford.
Ivans Kuroptevs, 42, was arrested in May 2024 after a raid by cybercrime officers on his home address.
Norwich Magistrates’ Court was told several electronic devices had been seized, with specialist analysis discovering material that he had downloaded.
Kuroptevs, of Gloucester Way in Thetford, pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children.
Sally Harris, prosecuting, said the offences involved 28 category A images - the most serious - together with 135 category B and 134,119 category C.
Following the hearing, through a Russian interpreter, he was told that a further charge of distributing indecent images was being withdrawn by prosecutors.
He will be sentenced on March 24.
Deputy District Judge Booty told him all options including immediate imprisonment would be considered as part of a pre-sentence report.
