Bentilee Rapist
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Bentilee, police uncovered a significant cache of illegal and highly disturbing material belonging to 30-year-old Istvan Gyurisa. The investigation was initiated after a police raid on his residence in Bentilee on September 20, 2019, which led to the seizure of electronic devices and the subsequent discovery of a vast collection of illicit images and videos.

Authorities found that Gyurisa had stored an alarming total of 30,253 child abuse images and videos on his devices. Among these were 3,276 images classified as extreme pornography, which included highly graphic and disturbing content. The police report indicated that some of these images depicted the rape of toddlers and infant girls, with the children appearing visibly distressed, highlighting the severity and depravity of the material stored by Gyurisa.

The investigation revealed that Gyurisa kept his illicit collection organized in specific folders, one of which was labeled ‘paedo pix’. The authorities also discovered that he had been actively searching for such images online and had created files to store them. During questioning, Gyurisa admitted to searching for and downloading these images, claiming he was unaware that possessing such material was a criminal offense in the United Kingdom. It was also revealed that he is a Hungarian national, which added an international dimension to the case.

Further details from the court proceedings indicated that Gyurisa had expressed some awareness of his sexual attraction to children. He inquired about the possibility of accessing a program that could facilitate his interests, suggesting a level of premeditation and intent. Despite his claims of ignorance regarding the legality, the evidence showed he had been actively involved in the possession and collection of these illegal images.

Gyurisa’s contact with the Lucy Faithfull Foundation, an organization dedicated to preventing child abuse, was noted during the proceedings. His legal representatives, including Stuart Muldoon, argued that Gyurisa had been forthcoming about his sexual interests and acknowledged that he found the images sexually satisfying, which they described as a significant step towards rehabilitation. Muldoon emphasized that Gyurisa was currently employed full-time and warned that imprisonment would jeopardize his job prospects and future employment opportunities.

Ultimately, Gyurisa pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children and one count of possessing extreme pornographic images. The court sentenced him to 12 months in prison. Additionally, he was subjected to a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order, restricting his access to certain online content and activities.

Judge Dean Kershaw addressed Gyurisa directly during sentencing, stating, “This is very serious. You had a large number of images on two devices. You were saying to police you were not interested in young children – of course you were.” The case underscores the grave nature of possessing and distributing child abuse material and the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat such offenses.
