IKHLAQUE CHOHDRY FROM LONDON JAILED FOR 20 YEARS FOR RAPE AND ABUSE OF YOUNG GIRL IN STONEBRIDGE AND WEMBLEY
In a case that has shocked the London community, Ikhlaque Nazir Chohdry, a 58-year-old man from Stonebridge, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after a lengthy investigation into his heinous crimes against a young girl. The victim, who was only seven years old at the time, endured a series of repeated sexual assaults over a span of 13 years, with the abuse continuing until she reached the age of 20.
Chohdry’s crimes came to light after the victim, demonstrating remarkable courage and resilience, decided to report the abuse to the police in 2013.
Her decision prompted a thorough investigation by officers from the Metropolitan Police’s sexual offences, exploitation, and child abuse command.
The investigation uncovered a disturbing pattern of abuse that had been concealed for over a decade.
Following the investigation, Chohdry was formally charged in July 2014.
His trial was held at Harrow Crown Court, where he faced multiple counts related to his crimes.
The court found him guilty of five counts of rape of a female and six counts of indecent assault.
However, he was acquitted of one count of rape and one count of attempted anal rape involving a male under 16, indicating that the evidence did not support those charges.
Today, the court handed down a severe sentence, imprisoning Chohdry for 20 years for his appalling actions.
The sentencing underscores the seriousness with which the justice system treats such violations of trust and innocence.
Detective Constable Luke Williams, who was involved in the case, expressed his support for the victim’s bravery.
He stated, “Chohdry subjected the victim to a horrific ordeal of abuse from a very young age.
I commend her bravery in coming forward and providing the evidence that brought him to justice.
This sentence illustrates that society is unwilling to accept this abhorrent behaviour.
The Met will continue to work tirelessly to keep the children of London safe, and ensure that victims are given the opportunity to be heard.” As the community processes this case, it serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and support for victims of abuse.
The Metropolitan Police remain committed to pursuing justice and protecting vulnerable individuals across London, including areas like Stonebridge and Wembley where such crimes have occurred.
