Ian Toase 35, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to 10 charges of distribution of indecent images and one charge of possession of 92 indecent images of children at Liverpool Crown Court. He was jailed for two years and given a 10-year Sexual Offences Prevention Order. In September 2013, an undercover officer exchanged messages and images with the alias ‘Dave Hill’ on Yahoo Messenger and motherless.com chatrooms. The images were of children, ranging from category A, the most serious, to C. Officers matched the IP address to a house in Wigan where they arrested Toase and seized his computers. Toase told a social worker: “I would look at my laptop and think: no I am not going to go on it, but the urge was too strong and I just had to explore and see more.” After the case, Detective Constable Sophie O’Rourke said downloading and exchanging such images fuelled the child sexual abuse trade and said offenders would be tracked down. Ian Toase, of Tenbury Drive, Ashton-in-Makerfield, pleaded guilty when he appeared in the dock at Liverpool Crown Court to 13 charges of distributing indecent images of children. The 34-year-old was further remanded on bail to await his sentence on Monday, May 18.
