MAN JAILED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN MANSFIELD WOODHOUSE INVOLVING IAN SCOTT/DOCHERTY

In March 2016, a 43-year-old man was sentenced to 12 years in prison for sexually abusing a child. Ian Alexander Scott, also known as Ian Alexander Docherty, of Beech Tree Avenue in Mansfield Woodhouse, pleaded guilty to multiple charges. He admitted to 15 counts of engaging in sexual activity with a boy under the age of 16 and two counts of causing a child under 13 to observe sexual acts. The offences originated in 2009, beginning with online contact with a 12-year-old boy, which over three years developed into grooming behavior. Scott was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday, 4 March 2016. In addition to his prison term, he is subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and will be required to register as a sex offender for life.
