IAN ROBINSON SENTENCED IN CHESTER FOR OFFENDING AGAINST A CHILD
Ian Robinson, a 60-year-old registered sex offender from Congleton Road, Sandbach, has been sentenced to eight years in prison after attempting to arrange a sexual meeting with a person he believed was a 13-year-old girl.Robinson was described by Cheshire Police as a 'dangerous offender' who was engaging in sexually explicit online conversations with a child's profile.
According to police reports, Robinson believed he was communicating with a 13-year-old girl and was planning to meet her for sexual intercourse.
The Cheshire Police's Online Child Abuse Investigations Team, supported by the North West Regional Organised Crime Unit, investigated Robinson’s activities on October 5.
During the operation, Robinson had traveled from his home to Liverpool, convinced he would meet his intended victim.
However, he was arrested on Edge Lane and taken into custody.
Robinson has prior convictions for similar offenses and was charged and remanded into custody the following day.
He later pleaded guilty to charges that included attempting to communicate sexually with a child, attempting to meet a girl under 16, and attempting to arrange a child sex offence.
On November 4, he was sentenced to eight years in prison.
