SCARBOROUGH PAEDOPHILE IAN JUBB JAILED AGAIN FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES AND BREACHING COURT ORDERS
In a disturbing case that highlights ongoing concerns about child safety and online exploitation, Ian Alexander Jubb, a 29-year-old resident of North Marine Road in Scarborough, has been sentenced to prison once more after authorities uncovered evidence of his continued involvement in illegal activities related to child sexual abuse.Jubb’s latest conviction stems from an incident in September 2020, when police officers conducted a routine check at his home as part of ongoing monitoring following his previous convictions.
Under a court order designed to safeguard children from harm, Jubb was prohibited from purchasing or owning a mobile phone without prior notification to authorities.
Despite this, officers discovered that he had acquired a new Samsung mobile phone, which he had concealed from law enforcement.
During a search of his property, the police found the device and uncovered three indecent images of children stored on it.
Among these were two videos depicting sexual scenes involving pre-teen boys, a discovery that significantly heightened the severity of the case.
Prosecutor Mike Greenhalgh detailed that the images included explicit content involving minors, raising serious concerns about Jubb’s ongoing predatory behavior.
Following his arrest, Jubb was taken into custody and questioned by police.
However, he refused to answer questions regarding the images or the payments he had made for a new mobile contract.
Ultimately, he admitted to possessing two counts of indecent images, breaching a sexual-harm prevention order, and failing to comply with notification requirements as a registered sex offender.
Initially scheduled for sentencing in October, the case was postponed as investigators continued to examine additional evidence of Jubb’s illicit online activities.
Further probing revealed that he possessed more than 20 indecent images, including nine videos classified as Category A, which involve the most serious forms of sexual abuse of children.
Authorities also found images categorized as B and C, but these additional offences were not formally charged; instead, they were considered during sentencing.
Jubb appeared via video link for his sentencing hearing on the Friday following the investigation’s conclusion.
During the proceedings, he confirmed his identity and was represented by legal counsel.
Prosecutor Greenhalgh highlighted that Jubb had established a bank account used to purchase the new mobile phone, in direct violation of the court’s order requiring him to disclose such financial arrangements to authorities.
It was also revealed that Jubb has a lengthy and troubling history of child sex offences dating back to 2009.
His criminal record includes a conviction in 2012 for inciting a boy under 13 to engage in sexual activity and possessing indecent images.
In May 2016, he was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison for breaching a sexual-offenders’ order and possessing indecent images, and he was placed on the sex offenders’ register for life.
During the sentencing, Recorder Jonathan Sandiford QC described Jubb as posing a “serious risk” to children, particularly young boys.
The judge emphasized that Jubb had deliberately flouted court orders by owning a new internet-capable phone without informing authorities, despite initial denials when police visited his home in September.
The court also noted Jubb’s prior grooming offences, including a case from 2016 where he was jailed for grooming a young boy through online gaming chats, offering money and requesting pictures.
In total, Jubb was sentenced to 32 months in prison, with the understanding that he will serve half of this term before becoming eligible for parole.
He remains subject to lifelong notification requirements and the indefinite sexual-harm prevention order, underscoring the ongoing threat he poses to the community of Scarborough and beyond.
