LOWESTOFT PAEDOPHILE IAN HOLIFIELD JAILED FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY AND FACE-SUPERIMPOSITION CRIMES
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Lowestoft, Ian Holifield, a 47-year-old resident of Beresford Road, was sentenced to a total of 17 months in prison at Ipswich Crown Court on Thursday, April 7.The court heard how Holifield engaged in heinous acts involving the creation and distribution of indecent images of children, as well as the disturbing act of digitally superimposing a young girl’s face onto explicit adult images.
Judge Emma Peters described Holifield’s actions as “deeply troubling,” emphasizing the severity of his misconduct.
The court was informed that Holifield had previously been given a chance to reform in 2020 when he received a 16-month prison sentence, suspended for 24 months, after being convicted of engaging in sexual activity in front of a 14-year-old girl, creating indecent images of a child, and possessing such images.
Despite this prior conviction and the court’s leniency, Holifield failed to comply with the conditions of his suspended sentence.
In September of the following year, routine visits by public protection officers to his address in Lowestoft resulted in the seizure of his mobile phone.
An analysis of the device revealed a large collection of indecent images, many of which had been altered by superimposing the face of a girl he knew onto adult pornography images.
Prosecutor Hannah Gladwell detailed the extent of the material found on Holifield’s phone.
She stated that 182 images fell into the most serious Category A classification, 738 were classified as Category B, and 651 were in Category C.
The images depicted a girl’s face digitally inserted onto explicit adult images, a revelation that added to the gravity of his offenses.
Holifield admitted responsibility for superimposing the girl’s face onto the images, acknowledging his involvement in the creation of these disturbing images.
The court also noted that he had previously been convicted in 2020 for acts involving a 14-year-old girl, including masturbation in her presence.
In addition to the prison sentence, Judge Emma Peters ordered Holifield to sign the sex offenders’ register for ten years and confirmed that an existing sexual harm prevention order would remain in effect.
The judge’s decision underscores the seriousness with which the court views his repeated and egregious violations, highlighting the ongoing threat he poses to the community of Lowestoft.
