SERIAL RAPIST IAN FOSTER CONVICTED FOR 2020 EDMONTON HOTEL ATTACK
Ian Foster, 41, who has no fixed abode, was convicted of rape at Wood Green Crown Court, sitting at Hendon Magistrates' Court, on Friday, April 26.The court learned that the victim, in her 30s, was acquainted with Foster.
They were at a hotel in Edmonton on January 17, 2020.
During an intense argument in their hotel room, Foster showed sexual jealousy.
After the argument, Foster and the woman went to sleep, and in the early hours of January 18, Foster raped her while she was sleeping.
The victim reported the incident to police the next day, and investigators from the North Area Public Protection team started an inquiry.
She was supported by specialized officers throughout the process while she provided evidence against Foster.
Foster was arrested on January 20 on suspicion of rape and was taken back to prison due to breach of his license conditions related to his previous convictions for two rapes in 2012 at Truro Crown Court.
He was charged on January 13, 2023.
He is scheduled for sentencing at Wood Green Crown Court on July 16.
Detective Sergeant Myles Bossman described Foster as 'a highly dangerous individual who has now been convicted of rape on two separate occasions.' He added that Foster, who was released on license in 2017 after his 2012 convictions, committed another brutal assault in 2020.
Sergeant Bossman mentioned Foster's pattern of sexual jealousy and insecurity and noted that he showed no remorse.
The officer emphasized that violence against women will not be tolerated and that individuals committing such offenses will face strict action.
He expressed appreciation for the victim's courage and the witnesses who supported the case and encouraged others to report sexual assaults immediately for support and investigation.
