Greenford Rapist
In a case that has shocked the Greenford community, Howard Zin Green, a 47-year-old man residing on Queens Avenue, was convicted of multiple serious charges related to the sexual abuse of children. The victims, whose bravery in coming forward has been widely praised, have played a crucial role in bringing Green to justice. Detective Constable Hannah Rose expressed her admiration for their courage, emphasizing the importance of their trust in law enforcement.

Green was sentenced to a term of 11 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to charges of rape and numerous counts of indecent assault. The case came to light following the arrest in October 2006, when a 14-year-old girl reported that Green had assaulted her on two separate occasions. This initial report prompted a thorough investigation that eventually uncovered a disturbing pattern of abuse spanning over a decade.

The investigation revealed that Green had victimized a total of ten children, ranging in age from four to 16 years old. These incidents occurred between 1979 and 1994, during the time Green was actively volunteering with youth groups and at a church-affiliated school in the Greenford area. The extensive nature of his offending highlighted a long history of predatory behavior, which had gone unnoticed for years.

Green was brought before Wood Green Crown Court, where he faced justice for his actions. The court sentenced him to a minimum of five and a half years behind bars, with the total sentence set at 11 years. Additionally, Green will be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions to protect the community.

Detective Constable Hannah Rose underscored the importance of victims' bravery, stating, “I hope this case encourages other victims of assault to speak to police, they can be assured that we will treat them with empathy and conduct a thorough investigation into their allegations.” The case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and the need to protect vulnerable children from exploitation and abuse, especially within trusted community roles.
