LEICESTER PAEDOPHILE HENRI PINNEY SEXUALLY GROOMED 26 BOYS AND COULD HAVE ABUSED MANY MORE
In July 2018, a disturbing case emerged from Leicester involving Henri Michael Pinney, a 22-year-old man who was found guilty of a series of heinous crimes involving the sexual grooming of minors.Over the course of a six-week trial at Leicester Crown Court, Pinney was convicted on a total of 40 counts related to the abuse of 26 boys.
The severity and scale of his offending have shocked the local community and prompted a thorough investigation by law enforcement authorities.
Detective Chief Inspector Shaun Orton, who led the investigation, revealed that the police had established contact with more than 60 children during their probe.
Despite the charges and convictions, he expressed strong certainty that Henri Pinney had engaged in abuse beyond those victims who have come forward publicly.
The detective emphasized that the investigation was ongoing and urged anyone who might have been contacted by Pinney or who suspects they were victimized to reach out to the authorities.
He assured the public that specially trained officers are available to handle such sensitive cases with care and professionalism.
Pinney’s criminal activities primarily involved online grooming, where he would pose as a teenage girl to lure young boys into engaging with him.
His method of manipulation was relentless, as he spent what he described as 'all his available time' persuading victims to take and send indecent photographs of themselves.
Before his arrest in June 2016, he also encouraged the children to use Skype for live video chats, during which he attempted to coerce them into participating in sexual activities.
These tactics aimed to exploit the victims’ trust and innocence for his own sexual gratification.
Law enforcement officials seized two mobile phones and three tablets from Pinney’s residence.
The data recovered was staggering, amounting to approximately 565 million pages of digital material that Leicester police meticulously examined.
The sheer volume of evidence underscored the complexity and scale of the case, highlighting the extensive efforts required to bring Pinney to justice.
In a statement, Detective Chief Inspector Orton paid tribute to the victims, acknowledging their bravery in coming forward and cooperating with the investigation.
He recognized that giving evidence in court was an overwhelming and daunting experience for many of them.
The officer also pointed out that offenders like Pinney often prey on young people who may lack the maturity or understanding to recognize malicious intent, making their exploitation even more tragic.
Pinney’s actions involved persistent persuasion, convincing his victims to engage in sexual conversations and send indecent images, all for his own sexual pleasure.
His refusal to accept responsibility for his crimes forced many victims to relive their trauma through court proceedings.
As part of his sentence, Pinney was also subjected to a lifelong Sexual Harm Prevention Order, aimed at preventing any future offenses and protecting the community from further harm.
