HARVEY BLYTH AND HIS SHOCKING CRIMES IN SWANSEA

A man named Harvey Blyth, resident of Swansea, has been convicted of heinous crimes that have sent shockwaves through the local community.

The sequence of events begins with Blyth raping a woman, an incident that he committed while under the influence of alcohol and cocaine, after a night of heavy partying.

Following the assault, Blyth engaged in a disturbing pattern of harassment and stalking directed at his victim, demonstrating a blatant disregard for her well-being and safety.

After the initial rape, Blyth performed a sexual act over his victim, an act that was reported to the police.

He was subsequently arrested, taken in for questioning, and released on police bail under certain conditions.

Despite this, Blyth did not cease his malicious behavior; instead, he launched a relentless campaign of harassment, sending numerous vile and abusive messages to the woman through social media platforms, particularly Facebook.

His continued actions prompted further police intervention.

He was again detained, and during this arrest, he subjected an officer at Swansea Central police station to racist abuse, which compounded his criminal record.

Police investigations into Blyth’s devices revealed even more disturbing evidence.

Several phones and other electronic gadgets belonging to him were seized, uncovering three videos depicting sexual abuse of boys aged between 10 and 14, as well as a video of a man engaging in sexual acts with an animal.

His internet browsing history was equally alarming, showing searches such as "is rape okay," "paedo rapes kids," and "naked 5 year old." In addition, police found that Blyth had secretly recorded and sent an intimate video of himself to another person without her consent.

The presence of these videos and searches paints a deeply disturbing picture of Blyth’s online behavior.

The impact of Blyth’s crimes on his victim was vividly illustrated through her own words, read aloud in court.

She described her emotional state as feeling “wrecked inside,” and she expressed ongoing fears and anxieties around men, along with a significant decline in her social interactions.

She also shared her distress over a private video shared publicly by Blyth, feeling haunted by the possibility that it may still be accessible online.

The police officer subjected to racist abuse also provided a statement, describing feelings of distress and embarrassment about the incident witnessed in front of colleagues.

Harvey Kristian Blyth, aged 20 and known to reside at Beauchamp Walk, Gorseinon, Swansea, has a documented history of serious mental health and psychological issues, which have largely remained untreated.

These factors were considered during the sentencing.

Prior to his current sentence, Blyth was convicted at trial of rape and had pleaded guilty to several other charges, including possessing indecent images of Category A, sharing a private sexual video, stalking, possession of extreme pornography, and racially aggravated disorder.

During his sentencing, Blyth’s defense highlighted psychiatric and psychological reports, as well as a letter from his parents, indicating that he is now receiving medication and that his mental health has reportedly improved.

Despite these efforts, the court was informed that Blyth is categorized as a dangerous offender.

The judge, Geraint Walters, emphasized that the rape occurred during a period when Blyth was under the influence and after a night of heavy partying, which contributed to his reckless behavior.

The court acknowledged Blyth’s longstanding behavioral problems traced back to early childhood, which his parents have tried to manage.

Nonetheless, the judge concluded that Blyth is a young man with profound and complex needs and that he lacks a proper understanding of the difference between right and wrong.

A detailed probation report supported the classification of Blyth as a dangerous individual who poses a continued risk until properly treated.

Consequently, Blyth was sentenced to an extended term of ten years, consisting of seven years in custody followed by three years on extended license.

He will be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

The sentencing also permits Blyth to apply for early release after serving approximately two-thirds of his custodial period; however, the final decision rests with the Parole Board.

As he received his punishment, Blyth expressed his dissatisfaction to the judge, stating, "I'm a bit upset about that.

I was expecting three or four years," revealing a lack of acknowledgment of the severity of his actions or remorse for the damage caused.
