KENT SEX OFFENDER WHO TARGETED TWO TEENS ON NIGHT OUT JAILED
A sex offender who attacked two teenage girls near a nightclub in Canterbury has been sentenced to imprisonment.Harry Homewood, age 22, from Ramsgate, was convicted of assaulting the girls in the city centre and received a sentence exceeding three years.
The incident was reported to Kent Police during the early hours of Saturday, March 14, 2026.
The night before, the victims—two friends in their late teens—had been out socialising in Canterbury’s city centre.
At around 2:30 a.m., while walking along Station Road East, close to Canterbury East train station and Club Chemistry nightclub, they were approached by Homewood, a man they did not know.
He engaged them in conversation before touching them over and under their clothing.
Despite their efforts to stop him, Homewood continued with multiple sexual assaults and made inappropriate comments.
The victims alerted friends nearby, leading to a police intervention.
Officers responded quickly, arresting Homewood, who was previously living on Augustine Road.
He was charged the next day and admitted to several sexual offences during court proceedings.
On Thursday, June 4, the Canterbury Crown Court sentenced him to three years and nine months in prison, with an indefinite requirement to notify authorities of his whereabouts.
Detective Constable Kirsty Chilcott, who led the investigation, stated that all women and girls deserve to be safe in public and that perpetrators like Homewood will face strict consequences.
She commended the bravery of the victims and assured the public that Homewood is now behind bars, with precautions in place should he seek parole.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to pursuing and prosecuting anyone who commits similar offences.
