HARRY BOWMAN FROM WIGAN SENTENCED FOR ABUSE OF SEVEN UNDERAGE GIRLS
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Wigan, Harry Bowman, aged 20, of Whitlow Avenue, has pleaded guilty to a series of heinous sexual offences committed against seven underage girls over a span of nearly three years. The crimes, described by authorities as 'depraved,' involved a pattern of exploitation and abuse that left a lasting impact on the victims involved.
Bowman's offending period stretched from October 2016 to July 2019, during which he engaged in multiple acts of sexual misconduct.
One of the victims, who bravely came forward, believed she was pregnant after Bowman pressured her into having sex, illustrating the manipulative and coercive tactics he employed.
Another young girl recounted to police that Bowman had raped her on several occasions within the confines of his own bedroom, further highlighting the severity and repeated nature of his crimes.
The case first drew police attention in March 2017 when a teenage girl disclosed to her school that Bowman had sexually assaulted her.
This initial report prompted further investigations that uncovered additional victims and evidence of his misconduct.
In August of the same year, authorities learned that Bowman had sent a naked photograph of a third teenager via WhatsApp to a second teenage girl, revealing a pattern of predatory behavior and exploitation through digital means.
By December 2017, a third victim had come forward, revealing that Bowman had pressured her into having sex and that she believed she was pregnant as a result of his coercion.
The following year, in May 2018, a fourth teenage girl reported to police that Bowman had raped her multiple times in his bedroom at his residence, adding to the mounting evidence against him.
Several other victims also claimed that Bowman had forced them to perform sexual acts via FaceTime, during which he also engaged in sexual acts himself, demonstrating a disturbing level of manipulation and abuse.
Bowman appeared at Bolton Crown Court, which was sitting at the University of Bolton Stadium, on September 24.
During the proceedings, he pleaded guilty to 25 charges related to his crimes.
However, earlier in the year, he had undergone a trial in which he was found not guilty of 11 additional charges.
The court's judgment was severe; Bowman was sentenced to 14 years in prison and was ordered to register as a sex offender for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions to protect the community from further harm.
