June 2012 Perverted South Yorkshire pensioner abused schoolgirls A PERVERTED already convicted paedophile pensioner branded a ‘classic paedophile’ by a Sheffield judge has been jailed. Harold Medlock, aged 78, was described as ‘manipulative’ and ‘cunning’ by Mr Recorder Richard Mansell QC for abusing one girl and offering another cash for sexual favours, despite having already served two jail terms for incidents involving young children. Sheffield Crown Court heard the OAP, of Haugh Road, Rotherham, abused one girl when she was seven or eight and attempted to engage in sexual activity with another, aged 10 or 11, by offering her money. On one occasion, he offered the older girl £200 for sex. The court heard both girls would go to his house because he had a bandit machine he let them use. The older girl confided in one of her teachers and a friend about the OAP’s advances and he was arrested. The younger girl told police he gave her money to play on his games machine, which Rachel Harrison, prosecuting, said gave Medlock ‘an opportunity to touch her’. On one occasion, the younger victim’s parents allowed her to spend the night at his house, thinking his wife would be there, but found out the following day that she had been on holiday. When their daughter had been alone with the OAP he got into bed with the girl. She told police that on another occasion he touched her when she sat on his knee while he was driving. Medlock was jailed for two-and-a-half years in 1992 for a series of indecent assaults on girls under 14, committed at swimming baths. In 2004 he was jailed for another 18 months for another indecent assault on a teenage girl. In addition to jailing him for six years, Medlock was placed in the Sex Offenders’ Register for life and made subject of a Sexual Offences Prevention Order, which bans him from being in the company of any child under the age of 16 without a parent there. Mr Recorder Mansell said: “You are a classic paedophile – you are manipulative you are cunning, you groom young girls by offering them money and giving them other treats in return for sexual favours.”
