HAROLD ANTHONY FROM KILBURN SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES IN LONDON
In December 2017, a distressing case involving a convicted paedophile from Kilburn drew significant public attention and outrage. Harold Anthony, aged 65 and residing on Charteris Road in Kilburn, was sentenced to a relatively short term of three and a half years in prison after admitting to multiple serious sexual offenses against young children.Anthony appeared at Hendon Magistrates Court where he confessed to three counts of indecently assaulting a six-year-old girl. These assaults involved inappropriate touching that took place between May and June of 2017. The case was particularly upsetting for the victim’s family, who expressed their anguish over the leniency of the sentence handed down.
In addition to the recent offenses, Anthony also pleaded guilty to historic allegations of indecent assault against another young girl under the age of 14. These assaults occurred over a period spanning from February 2001 to February 2003, and the second victim was only eight years old at the time. The court heard that these past crimes added to the gravity of his criminal record.
On December 22, at Harrow Crown Court, a judge sentenced Anthony to three and a half years in prison. The sentence was met with disappointment from the victim’s family, especially the father of the most recent victim, who chose to remain unnamed for legal reasons. After the sentencing, he expressed his feelings, stating, “I am relieved that at last he is behind bars and the world knows what he did but I feel angry at the sentence. The judge said because Anthony pleaded guilty he would only serve three and a half years. This is not even justice.”
Another family member echoed these sentiments, describing their family’s emotional turmoil. They said, “My family is in bits because of this. But the judge said because he admitted what he did, there was a limit to the sentence that could be imposed. It is not right.”
In accordance with legal procedures, Harold Anthony has been placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions. Scotland Yard confirmed this measure, emphasizing the seriousness with which such offenses are treated and the importance of safeguarding vulnerable children from potential harm.
