NOTTINGHAM SEX OFFENDER JAILED FOR PARK RAPE OF 12-YEAR-OLD GIRL
Hamza Khan, a sex offender convicted of crimes involving a minor, has received a prison sentence after being found guilty of raping a 12-year-old girl in a Nottingham park.
The assault took place on 18 May of the previous year when Khan encountered his young victim near Crown Island in Wollaton.
He then led her into a park located in Aspley, where he carried out a lengthy sexual attack, which Nottinghamshire Police described as extensive.
The 29-year-old was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court to serve nine years and three months behind bars.
Evidence used in the case included CCTV footage that captured Khan with his bicycle at the scene, as well as the victim’s identification during police proceedings.
Although Khan had a prior conviction for sexual assault and initially did not respond during police questioning, he eventually admitted guilt.
His sentence includes a 15-year sexual harm prevention order, and he will be on the sex offenders register for life.
Detective Constable Jason Jenkins characterized Khan as a "predatory" individual who targeted a "vulnerable child in a most horrifying way," and expressed compassion for the victim, who continues to live with the trauma of the incident.
