Bournemouth Rapist Child Sexual Abuser
A 49-year-old man named Guy Lawrence Miles has been sentenced to 22 years in prison for serious sexual violence against a child. Miles, of Palmerston Road, Bournemouth, was convicted of three counts of rape and indecent assault. The police investigation was initiated in February 2021 after a report that Miles had historically raped a child in Bangor. He groomed the victim and subjected her to violent assault and abuse over a two-year period, which left her too frightened to report the crimes at the time. Later, when she returned to the area as an adult, Miles tracked her down and attacked her from behind, knocking her unconscious before being chased away by members of the public. Miles is required to serve two-thirds of his sentence before being considered for release. Additionally, he was issued an indefinite restraining order and a 30-year sexual harm prevention order. Detective Constable Chris Renshaw commented on the case, noting that the victim showed tremendous courage in reporting the offences and providing evidence under difficult circumstances. The case aims to encourage other victims of sexual abuse to come forward, reassuring them that their evidence will be heard and that offenders will face justice. North Wales Police emphasized that any victims of sexual abuse, regardless of when the abuse occurred, should come forward, as they will be fully supported.
