GUY DEAN GOLF PROFESSIONAL FROM WALSALL ADMITS TO POSSESSING INDECENT IMAGES OF CHILDREN

In July 2014, Guy Dean, a golf professional with a career spanning several clubs in the West Midlands including Penn, Rowley Regis, West Bromwich, Pelsall, and Cannock, pleaded guilty to possessing a large collection of indecent images of children and extreme pornography.

Dean, aged 44 and residing on Pelsall Lane, Bloxwich, appeared at Stafford Crown Court where he admitted to seven charges of creating indecent images of a child and two charges of possessing extreme pornographic material, covering the period from June 2011 to April 2013. He further pleaded guilty to possessing three images of extreme pornography and five images involving animals.

The authorities found over 2,800 images and one video among his possessions. During the hearing, Miss Catherine O’Reilly, defending Dean, informed the court that a psychiatric report on her client was currently being prepared.

Judge Mark Eades agreed to adjourn the case for further reports and released Dean on conditional bail. A sentencing date has yet to be scheduled.

Dean's professional career began at Beaudesert Golf Club in Rugeley Road, Cannock, in 1986. He later worked alongside European Seniors Tour player Jim Rhodes at South Staffordshire Golf Club in 1996, and served as head professional at Dartmouth Golf Club in West Bromwich. In 2000, he became the head professional at Dudley Golf Club in Rowley Regis, a position he held for five years. In 2005, Dean took on the role of head professional at Penn Golf Club in Wolverhampton, which he resigned from abruptly in April 2013.
