West Bromwich Domestic Homicide
Gurinder Singh, a 42-year-old man from West Bromwich, was found guilty of the brutal murder of his partner, Parmamjit Kaur, aged 34. The tragic incident occurred in their shared residence on Walter Street in West Bromwich during the month of July. Singh was convicted of strangulation, a violent act that ended Parmamjit's life and left her family devastated.

Parmamjit Kaur had moved into Singh's home following the dissolution of her marriage in early 2012. She was a mother to a 13-year-old daughter who was living in India at the time. The relationship between Singh and Parmamjit had reportedly been strained, and her decision to leave her partner was seen as a significant turning point. Unfortunately, this decision led to a tragic outcome that shocked the local community.

According to authorities, Singh murdered Parmamjit in their West Bromwich residence and then attempted to conceal her body. He hid her remains in a store cupboard within their home, where he kept her body for several hours. During this time, Singh traveled to and from London, seemingly trying to evade suspicion and delay reporting the crime. It was only after some time that he contacted the police to disclose what had happened.

Detective Sergeant Ranj Sangha described the case as a heartbreaking example of domestic violence gone tragically wrong. He emphasized that Parmamjit’s decision to leave her partner was a courageous step, but it ultimately led to her murder. The court proceedings revealed the extent of Singh’s actions, including his efforts to hide the body and his subsequent attempts to avoid detection.

Singh was brought before Wolverhampton Crown Court, where he was found guilty of murder. The court sentenced him to life imprisonment, with a minimum term of 12 years before he would be eligible for parole. The verdict aims to provide some measure of justice for Parmamjit’s family and friends, who continue to mourn her loss and seek closure from this tragic event.
