GUISEPIPE VOLANTE JAILED IN GUILDFORD FOR ABUSE OF TEENAGE GIRL
A male sex offender, Guiseppi Volante, of Glebelands in West Molesey, has been sentenced to prison after a campaign of abuse that left a teenage girl suffering from nightmares.Guildford Crown Court heard that Volante, 56 years old, began abusing the girl when they were alone.
The court was informed that he would cut off her clothing and, on one occasion, attempted to rape her during a walk.
His abuse was halted after the girl confided in a friend, leading to reports to Surrey Police.
Following police interviews with Volante, authorities searched his home and found a series of pornographic videos with titles such as "Abused Girls Sleeping" and "Drug Abused Girls." During a court impact statement, the victim described the effects of the abuse: "Every day I fight with myself, trying to move on, be normal, but I will never get that opportunity.
You took that from me." She recounted her nightmares: "In one I was running away from you.
It was like I was going as fast as I could but I wasn't actually running that fast.
I was screaming for help but no one was around.
At the end, before I woke up, I finally found help.
I was unsure why I had these dreams, so I asked a friend, and she explained nightmares are a way for our brain to cope with trauma." Volante was convicted of seven charges related to the same victim, including three counts of penetrative sexual activity, three counts of non-penetrative sexual activity, and one attempted rape.
He received a prison sentence of 10 years and will remain on the Sex Offender’s Register indefinitely.
Detective Constable Julia Thomas, who led the investigation for Surrey Police, commented: "This was a horrific crime where an older man repeatedly preyed on a vulnerable young girl, relying on her silence to continue his abuse.
The victim showed incredible bravery in coming forward, and our Victim and Witness Care Unit supported her throughout.
I hope today’s outcome demonstrates our commitment to thoroughly investigating all reports of sexual abuse, regardless of when they occurred.
We will work with victims to ensure those responsible are held accountable."
