MAN GUILTY OF MURDERING HIS MOTHER
Update 06/06/2026: A man convicted of killing his mother in their shared residence has received a life prison sentence.Gregory Coulson, aged 32, was responsible for the death of Carmen Coulson, aged 67, at a property located in Lingwood Park, Longthorpe, Peterborough.
Coulson contacted emergency services at approximately 2:44 am on February 9, 2025.
However, it is believed that Mrs Coulson had been fatally attacked the previous evening.
The court was informed that police officers discovered Mrs Coulson's body upon arriving at the detached house.
An autopsy revealed multiple injuries on her body, including a fatal stab wound to the chest.
Coulson pleaded not guilty to murder, alleging that burglars broke into the home and killed her.
This claim was dismissed by the jury, which unanimously found Coulson guilty on March 10.
On June 4, at Huntingdon Law Courts, Coulson, of Lingwood Park in Peterborough, was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 26 years before parole eligibility.

It is believed he had already killed his mother the night before.
Upon arrival, officers discovered Mrs.
Coulson deceased at the detached house.
A post-mortem examination revealed numerous injuries across her body, including a fatal stab wound to her heart.
Coulson maintained his innocence, claiming during the trial that intruders had entered the property and murdered his mother.
Nonetheless, the jury at Huntingdon Law Courts did not accept this explanation.
On 10 March, the jury reached a unanimous verdict, finding Coulson guilty of murder.
