Ellon Child Sexual Abuser
In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the community of Ellon and beyond, Gregor Ramsay, aged 21, was found guilty of engaging in highly inappropriate and illegal online activities involving underage girls. The offences, which spanned over a period of time and involved multiple victims, included soliciting explicit images and videos from minors, some as young as 12 years old.

According to court reports, Ramsay used popular social media platforms such as Snapchat and the teen dating app Yubo to contact and manipulate young girls. The initial incidents date back to June 2016, when Ramsay, then just 16 years old and a student at a secondary school, approached two girls aged 12 and 13. He requested them to send him naked pictures of themselves, which made the victims feel extremely uncomfortable. Despite their attempts to change the subject, Ramsay persisted by sending unsolicited images of his own private parts through Snapchat.

Although he was not charged at that time, the pattern of his behavior continued and escalated when he was 19. During this later period, Ramsay targeted two girls in Wales, both aged 14, with whom he had established contact via Snapchat and Yubo. He encouraged one girl to send him photos of her breasts, promising her payment of between £15 and £20 per image. She complied by sending between five and ten photos of her face and body, but the situation took a darker turn when Ramsay inquired about her pets and suggested involving them in his sick fantasies. The girl refused and eventually blocked him.

Meanwhile, the second Welsh girl was subjected to persistent requests for explicit images. Ramsay offered to pay her for nude photos and continued to ask for videos of her engaging in sexual acts and even urinating herself. She sent two videos of herself in the shower, with her underpants on, urinating, but refused to fulfill his further bizarre requests involving animals. Throughout their conversations, both girls claimed to be 14, while Ramsay purportedly believed he was 15.

Over the course of one week in February 2020, Ramsay paid one girl £87 and the other £230 through PayPal, in exchange for the explicit images and videos. His actions came to light when he was charged with multiple offenses, including two counts of sending and requesting indecent images of girls under 13 and 16. In June 2020, Ramsay admitted to these charges, which involved him sending images of his private parts and receiving money for explicit content from the minors.

During the court proceedings at Aberdeen Sheriff Court, Sheriff Andrew Miller described Ramsay’s conduct as “extremely serious.” Despite the gravity of the charges, the court considered his age and lack of prior convictions in determining the sentence. Ramsay, who resides on Woodlands Drive in Ellon and works as a marine engineer, was sentenced to 225 hours of unpaid community work and placed under a three-year supervision order. Additionally, he is required to participate in the “Moving Forward: Making Changes” therapy program and has been placed on the sex offenders register. The court’s decision aims to address both the punishment and the rehabilitation of Ramsay, while also emphasizing the importance of protecting minors from such predatory behavior.
