GRAHAM TOMLINSON FROM PAISLEY HOSPITALIZED WITH ALCOHOL POISONING, AVOIDING SENTENCING FOR CHILD SEX ABUSE IMAGES

In December 2019, a disturbing case involving Graham Tomlinson, a 46-year-old resident of Kilwynet Way in Paisley, took a dramatic turn as he was scheduled for sentencing related to serious charges of possessing child sexual abuse images.

Tomlinson was found in possession of a large collection of indecent images depicting children as young as two years old being exploited.

The images, which totaled 750 in number, included some classified as the most severe category A, indicating the worst level of sexual exploitation.

Initially, Tomlinson admitted to possessing these images and claimed that he was only searching for adult pornography at the time of his arrest.

Despite his claims, the forensic analysis of his mobile device confirmed the disturbing nature of his collection.

The investigation revealed that his phone contained 71 images classified as category A, 93 as category B, and a staggering 585 as category C, illustrating a wide range of severity in the images stored.

Following his arrest, Tomlinson appeared in court and pleaded guilty to the charges of possessing indecent images of children.

He was subsequently placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register and released on bail while authorities awaited further background reports to assess his profile and risk level.

The case was scheduled for sentencing before Sheriff James Spy, with the court expecting to hear the full extent of his actions and impose an appropriate sentence.

However, the proceedings were abruptly halted when Tomlinson failed to appear in court for his scheduled sentencing hearing.

The court was informed that he was unable to attend due to health reasons.

Defence solicitor Jonathan Manson explained that his client was currently hospitalized suffering from alcohol poisoning and was too unwell to be present.

Manson provided a text message from hospital staff confirming Tomlinson’s condition and requested an adjournment of the case.

Sheriff Spy inquired about the expected duration of Tomlinson’s hospital stay and whether the background reports could be completed in his absence.

Manson confirmed that Tomlinson was indeed hospitalized due to alcohol poisoning and that he would remain in hospital for several days.

As a result, the court agreed to postpone the sentencing until December 20 to allow for further assessments and to give Tomlinson time to recover.

This case highlights the serious nature of child exploitation crimes and the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to investigate and prosecute offenders.

The court’s decision to delay sentencing underscores the importance of considering individual circumstances, including health issues, in the judicial process.
