GRAHAM ROBINSON FROM KENT JAILED FOR BREACHING SEXUAL HARM PREVENTION ORDER IN FAVERSHAM

Graham Robinson, a resident of Faversham in Kent, has been sentenced to prison after repeatedly violating the terms of his Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).

Robinson, who is a registered sex offender, was convicted at Canterbury Crown Court in 2018 for possessing indecent images of children.

As part of his conviction, he was subjected to strict behavioral restrictions designed to prevent further offenses.

These restrictions included limitations on his access to mobile phones and computers, as well as restrictions on internet usage.

Furthermore, Robinson was mandated to notify authorities about any devices or bank accounts he owned, and he was required to allow law enforcement to examine his devices at any time.

The court also ordered him to install monitoring software on his electronic devices, including his phone, to enable officers to oversee his online activity and ensure compliance with the court’s conditions.

Between 2020 and 2022, investigators conducted multiple unannounced visits to Robinson’s residence in Faversham.

During these visits, they uncovered several breaches of the SHPO.

On one occasion, officers recovered a smartphone from his property, which Robinson claimed belonged to a friend.

When the officers dialed the number associated with Robinson, the phone rang, leading to its seizure.

Further inspections revealed two additional phones and two internet-enabled devices that Robinson had failed to declare.

Investigators also discovered that Robinson had been using software designed to wipe data from his phone and computer, indicating an attempt to conceal his activities.

In February 2022, law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at Robinson’s home.

During this operation, they found a tablet, multiple USB drives, and other storage devices.

They also uncovered several bank cards and accounts that Robinson had not disclosed to authorities.

Additionally, the search yielded a flick knife and a credit card with three concealed blades, which are considered offensive weapons.

Forensic analysis of the seized devices revealed the presence of over 460,000 images, including a disturbing number of indecent images of children.

A review of some of this content confirmed the existence of 138 indecent images of minors, with eight classified as the most serious category.

The investigation also uncovered 23 extreme pornographic images, further highlighting the severity of Robinson’s offenses.

Following these findings, Robinson was charged and appeared at Maidstone Crown Court.

He pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including three counts of making indecent images of a child, three counts of possessing extreme pornographic images, seven counts of breaching his sexual harm prevention order, three counts of failing to comply with notification requirements on the sex offenders register, and possession of an offensive weapon in a private place.

On Thursday, June 13, the 66-year-old Robinson was sentenced to three years in prison.

The court also imposed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order that will remain in effect for 15 years and mandated his indefinite registration on the Sex Offenders Register.

Detective Constable Jamie Easdown, of the Swale offender management unit, emphasized the importance of ongoing monitoring, stating, “We regularly visit registered sex offenders living in our communities to monitor their conduct and ensure they are complying with any conditions in place to prevent further crimes.

We install software on their devices to monitor activity online and will promptly complete searches at home addresses if we suspect further offences.

In this way, we endeavour to protect the most vulnerable in our community and, where any breaches are discovered, they will be arrested and brought back before the court to answer for their actions.”
