Coulsdon Child Sexual Abuser
In June 2020, a man from Coulsdon, identified as Graham Robert Mead, was sentenced to a total of 30 months in prison at Guildford Crown Court for a series of serious offenses related to the exploitation and abuse of minors. The court's decision came after Mead pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including the creation and possession of indecent images of children, as well as arranging or commissioning a child sex offense.

Mead, aged 46 and residing on Portnalls Road in Coulsdon, had previously admitted to engaging in activities that facilitated the sexual exploitation of minors. His admissions included making indecent photographs of children, taking such images, and arranging or commissioning offenses involving minors. These admissions were made during earlier hearings, setting the stage for the sentencing that followed.

The investigation into Mead’s activities was initiated by Surrey Police in February of the previous year, following a tip-off concerning his online behavior. Authorities uncovered that Mead had been actively using the messaging application Kik to search for individuals who either had access to children or were themselves minors. The investigation revealed that Mead had targeted a vulnerable teenage victim, exploiting her for his own illicit purposes.

Detective Constable Steve Branch, who led the investigation, expressed the police’s stance on the case, stating, “We welcome the sentence the court has imposed. It sends a clear message to anyone targeting or abusing children that you cannot hide online or behind a username. We will find you and investigate your activity thoroughly to bring you to justice.”

Further details from the investigation indicated that Mead had stored approximately 2,500 chat logs on his mobile device, all accessed through Kik. These logs revealed that Mead actively sought out others who had access to children, with the intent of facilitating sexual abuse and obtaining indecent images. Detective Constable Branch emphasized Mead’s manipulative behavior, noting that his actions demonstrated a calculated effort to exploit minors. The court’s sentencing reflects the seriousness with which the justice system views such offenses and underscores the commitment to protecting vulnerable individuals from predators like Mead.
