GRAHAM KING REPEATEDLY OFFENDS IN FIFE: CAIRNEYHILL AND GLENROTHES SEX OFFENDER JAILED AGAIN
In September 2018, Graham King, a known sex offender with a troubling history in Fife, was once again brought before the courts following his latest criminal conduct involving indecent images of children.King, who has previously served time for similar offences, was found to be in possession of a significant collection of illicit material, prompting his re-arrest and subsequent sentencing.
King’s latest offences came to light after police executed a search warrant at his residence on Queen Margaret Drive, Glenrothes.
During the raid, officers discovered that King had accumulated a large number of child abuse images on his electronic devices.
When questioned, King did not deny the allegations; instead, he admitted to having “tons” of such images stored on his devices, some of which were classified as Category A, indicating the most severe type of illegal content.
At the time of the police visit, King was present in his back garden, and his wife answered the door.
Upon being informed of the police’s purpose, King pointed to a tablet device and stated, “It’ll be me and it’ll be on that,” indicating the tablet as the source of the illicit material.
Further investigation revealed that the tablet contained one Category B image and 35 Category C images, while his mobile phone held 23 Category C images.
Additionally, the devices contained illegal movies, with three classified as Category A, four as Category B, and five as Category C.
King, who is currently serving time at Perth Prison, has a long history of offending in the Fife area.
In 2010, he was jailed for a year at Dunfermline Sheriff Court after engaging in predatory behaviour online, targeting local schoolgirls through internet chat lines.
During that period, he sent indecent images via webcam and falsely claimed to be an 18-year-old from Milesmark, attempting to establish contact with minors.
He also admitted to sending explicit pictures of himself engaging in sexual acts to three 12-year-old girls.
His criminal record also includes a conviction for sending indecent images and attempting to groom young girls, which led to his initial imprisonment.
The court heard that King had previously been placed on an extended sentence with supervision, but this did not prevent him from reoffending.
In the latest case, King was charged with offences committed between March 13 and April 26 at his residence in Glenrothes.
The police investigation was initiated after receiving intelligence about the presence of indecent images on his devices.
The authorities obtained a warrant, and during the search, King was confronted with the evidence.
He acknowledged the presence of the illicit material, which included both images and movies of children.
Graham King appeared before Dunfermline Sheriff Court for sentencing, where Sheriff Charles MacNair expressed concern over the seriousness of his offences.
The sheriff remarked, “It seems to me on the face of it that he poses a serious threat,” emphasizing the gravity of the material found on King’s devices.
He also noted that such repeat offending is quite rare and highlighted that King’s previous extended sentence, which included supervision, had not been sufficient to prevent further crimes.
As a result, Sheriff MacNair sentenced King to 16 months in prison, backdated to his custody date of April 21.
This means that King is expected to be released before the end of the year.
Additionally, the court imposed an indefinite sexual offences prevention order and mandated that King remains on the sex offenders’ register for the foreseeable future.
King’s case underscores the ongoing threat posed by individuals with a history of sexual offending, especially those who continue to access and possess illegal material involving children.
His repeated offences in Fife, particularly in Cairneyhill and Glenrothes, serve as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilant law enforcement and judicial oversight in protecting vulnerable members of the community.
