CHARMOUTH MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO POSSESSING IMAGES OF CHILDREN
A MAN from west Dorset has pleaded guilty to possessing more than a thousand indecent images of children.Smart, of Five Acres, Charmouth, was found to have 1,012 still and moving category C images and seven still and moving images of children identified as category B.
He appeared at Weymouth Magistrates’ Court where he pleaded guilty to two counts of possessing indecent photographs and pseudo-photographs of children.
The court heard that on December 1, 2022, police attended Smart's address after being notified that he was allegedly in possession of indecent images.
Smart previously admitted to being aroused by the images and was said to have created them by downloading photos from a website.
He then made the images more explicit using Photoshop.
He had done so for around two years and it was heard he had improved his skills as his software got better.
He was granted unconditional bail and will next appear for sentencing on December 18.
He was informed that he must notify the police at a local station within 72 hours of the hearing.
