GRAEME ELLIS OF SILVERTON FOUND GUILTY OF SEXUALLY ASSAULTING A CHILD IN DEVON
In June 2021, a man from Silverton, Graeme Ellis, aged 56, was convicted of sexually assaulting a minor and has been warned he will face imprisonment.Ellis was standing trial at Exeter Crown Court on charges of multiple offences spanning several years. He maintained his innocence against seven counts related to a child under the age of 13.
The jury deliberated for just under two hours before returning unanimous guilty verdicts on all charges. Judge Timothy Rose addressed Ellis, stating: "You’ve been found guilty of all seven counts. I can’t proceed to sentencing today as I need time to review certain reports."
Following the verdict, Ellis was released on conditional bail ahead of the sentencing hearing scheduled in two weeks.
The judge emphasized the seriousness of the situation, informing Ellis: "You have that period to prepare yourself for what will likely be a prison sentence. When you return before the court, it’s certain you will be sent to prison."
Additionally, Ellis was ordered to sign the Sex Offender Register. His case is scheduled for sentencing on June 24.
