GORDON STEWART: MAN FINED OVER TEXTS AND THREATS TO WOMAN
A man has received a fine and a court order to stay away from a woman after repeatedly sending her unwanted messages and making threats.Gordon Stewart was found guilty of two charges, including engaging in a pattern of behavior that caused the victim to fear or become alarmed.
On March 2, at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court, the 34-year-old was sentenced.
The court heard that on September 9 and November 16, 2021, at an address on Cunninghame Crescent in Saltcoats and other locations, Stewart persistently sent unsolicited social media and text messages to the woman, in which he used foul language, asked her to meet up, and inquired about her personal life.
The charges also included that he called her and left threatening voice messages, and sent messages and made calls to her partner or former partner, all while monitoring her movements and driving past her home.
Court documents highlighted that the offense was worsened by Stewart’s involvement of his partner or ex-partner in the abuse.
Another charge stated that on November 16, 2021, at Mariners View in Ardrossan, Stewart was in possession of extreme pornographic images showing explicit sexual acts involving an animal.
During a recent court session, Stewart, of French Street in Dalmarnock, Glasgow, was fined £4,175 and was issued a non-harassment order, preventing him from contacting or communicating with the victim for one year.
