Marden Rapist
In May 2016, Gordon Preece, a 71-year-old man from Drakeley Farm, Marden, was sentenced to 25 years in prison for a series of serious sexual offences involving children. Preece was convicted after a trial of 15 counts that included rape, buggery, and indecent assault.

He was found guilty by a Hereford Crown Court jury of four counts of indecent assault against a girl under the age of 14, committed between 1970 and 1971, as well as in 1979 and 1980. In addition, Preece was convicted of four counts of raping a female under 16.

His convictions also encompassed four counts of buggery with a woman between 1980 and 1984. Other charges included two counts of assault of a girl by penetration and causing or inciting a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity.

The court's ruling reflects the grave nature of his crimes against vulnerable young victims, and Preece was ultimately sentenced to a significant prison term as a result.
