GORDON MCCARTNEY'S TAXI LICENCE REJECTED IN PAISLEY OVER CHILD SEX OFFENSES
In a significant decision by authorities in Paisley, the renewal of the taxi driver license for Gordon McCartney has been formally denied following his criminal history and recent objections from law enforcement officials.Back in May 2018, McCartney was convicted of engaging in sexual activity with a female under the age of 13 in the year 2015.
This serious offense led to legal repercussions and a criminal record that continues to impact his ability to work within the transportation industry.
Following his conviction, McCartney was sentenced by Paisley Sheriff Court to serve a community payback order totaling 300 hours.
This sentence was part of the judicial response to his criminal conduct, emphasizing the severity of his actions and the need for rehabilitation and community safety.
Despite serving his sentence, McCartney’s attempt to renew his taxi driver license was met with resistance.
Police Scotland formally raised an objection during the licensing process, citing concerns related to his criminal history and the potential risk to public safety.
During a meeting of the Licensing and Regulatory Committee, the objections were considered, and it was ultimately decided that McCartney’s license should not be renewed.
The committee, already aware of his suspension status, took a firm stance to prevent him from returning to work as a taxi driver, citing the importance of safeguarding the community, especially vulnerable individuals.
As a result, McCartney remains barred from operating as a licensed taxi driver in Paisley, reflecting the ongoing efforts of authorities to prevent individuals with a history of child sexual offenses from re-entering roles that could pose risks to the public.
